The 52-year-old Senegalese-American singer was arrested on November 6th in Georgia, surprising his fans.
According to Page Six, the “Locked Up” singer was jailed in DeKalb County, but his time behind bars lasted only six hours. The arrest followed a warrant issued by Roswell County, related to a case of driving with a suspended license. For the artist, this situation appears to be the result of a series of administrative incidents. It all started on September 10th. Akon was stranded on the side of the road in his Tesla Cybertruck. A passing police officer stopped to assist him while waiting for a tow truck. So far, nothing unusual. But upon checking the driver’s ID, the officer discovered that the singer’s license was suspended for “failure to appear” at a court hearing scheduled for January 2023.
Failure to comply with the summons and driving despite the suspension led the officer to issue another ticket. This infraction was compounded by the non-payment of the resulting fine. It was this accumulation of offenses that ultimately triggered the arrest warrant against him, resulting in his swift detention on November 6th. Fortunately for Akon, this legal ordeal ended quickly. Released after six hours, the singer can now resume his musical and entrepreneurial activities.
