President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, participated Sunday morning in the hike marking the close of Armed Forces Week, this year themed “The Armed Forces, Partners of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.”
Alongside the Minister of the Armed Forces, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and military authorities, the Head of State shared a moment of unity, discipline, and camaraderie with the men and women involved in preparing for this first Olympic event to be held on African soil.
Now a fixture on the national calendar, this hike will take place every first Sunday following Armed Forces Day. It symbolizes the spirit of resilience, mobilization, and endurance that drives the Defense and Security Forces, who are called upon to play a vital role in hosting, ensuring the security of, and promoting the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The Presidency of the Republic welcomed this initiative, which strengthens the bonds between the Armed Forces and the population, recalling the crucial contribution of the Armed Forces to building a sovereign, united, and forward-looking Senegal.
