During his meeting this Tuesday with members of the Pastef Political Bureau, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye sought to clarify several sensitive issues, particularly those concerning Aminata Touré and Abdourahmane Diouf, two figures at the heart of heated debates within the majority.

While reiterating his unwavering loyalty to Ousmane Sonko — “Diomaye is Sonko, Sonko is Diomaye” — the head of state also unequivocally took responsibility for internal decisions that continue to generate controversy.

Aminata Touré, a deliberate choice despite the controversy

President Faye confirmed that he personally chose Aminata Touré to lead the restructuring of the “Diomaye Président” coalition. He stated that this choice was based on “her past commitment,” even though he acknowledged that the appointment had caused some turmoil within the party, according to the newspaper Libération, as reported by Senego.

When questioned about the IGE report that criticized Mimi Touré during her time as Prime Minister, Diomaye Faye downplayed the significance of the document. According to him, it was a report “commissioned by former President Macky Sall,” before cautiously adding, “But we’ll see,” suggesting that further investigations are still possible.

Abdourahmane Diouf: Investigations Continue

Regarding the overbilling accusations against Abdourahmane Diouf, now at the center of a heated public debate, the president indicated that the investigation is still ongoing. He insisted that no hasty conclusions should be drawn until the technical investigations are complete.
